This wine comes from a not-so-great vintage (according to the press), but this one is a gem. 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot. The nose opens with a toasty note intermingling with sour cherry that makes your mouth water. The toastiness persists throughout, weaving its way in and out of the silky texture, the mix of red and dark fruit and the granitic structure. Balanced acidity keeps the whole show poised through the elegant and flavorful finish. Text book Pauillac at a relatively reasonable price.
